The Path to Blaire’s Decision

I rediscovered romance at the beginning of the 2020 shutdown. I found authors with whom I fell in love with their writing, like Hope Ford (highly recommend Scarred Hero) and Ember Davis (definitely read some of her Stranger Shoot series). And then with a little encouragement from my favorite people (you know who you are – xo), I decided to try my hand at the whole writing thing.

I started with a bunch of research on tropes and writing styles and found the InstaLove community. InstaLove, in a nutshell, is a story anywhere from 20 to 70 pages, and it’s just what it sounds like — circumstances that make for instant connections with hea (happily-ever-after) endings.

I started writing down ideas — I found I had loads of them once I got started! When Blaire’s story came to mind, I knew hers would be my first romance story. Setting it in the desert was a byproduct from my most recent trip out West because it was still so fresh in my mind. With the months of hardly any work that came from the shutdown, I took to writing her story… and picking up yoga, which I still love and practice today.

After a few months, work began coming around again — I’ve worked from home for the past 6 or so years scoping for court reporters (scoping is a fancy word for editing) — and my writing slowed down. But I made a goal for myself to complete Blaire’s Decision by the end of the year.

I wrote “The End” on December 30th, 2020.

Her story took me 7 months to write and is not exactly an InstaLove short, but I wouldn’t change that for anything. Being a novella, it still has a shorter timeline than what some may be used to reading, but I love how the story develops and I don’t think I could have pulled that off with any less than the page count it encompasses.

Through several edits and working with my proofreader, we’ve finally come to the crescendo of the writing and publishing stage. Blaire’s Decision will be released on August 15, 2021. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Happy reading, Beauties.
